Oh Miami, what a city! It is one of the places to visit at least once in a lifetime, and not only to know its vibrant neighborhoods or its famous beach, but because it is one of the cities with the most personality in the United States. But there is something you have to keep in mind if you are planning a visit: Miami is huge! So you will have to choose the location of your accommodation well. And for that we are here, in this post we will tell you what are the best areas to stay in Miami And we recommend a few hotels. In the end we will also tell you what are the areas to avoid and the most dangerous neighborhoods in Miami.

Miami is essentially divided into two parts: Miami proper, which is the mainland, and Miami Beach, which is an island that stretches off the coast and connects with several bridges. They are still the same city, obviously, but keep that in mind since the trips can be somewhat long.

It is not a cheap city if you compare it with others in Florida, but obviously it will be easier to find cheap accommodation in Miami than in New York or San Francisco. Calculate some $ 80-100 / night in a double room with private bathroom. If you are lucky and are looking for some time in advance, better offers may come out, but we think it is a fairly accurate indicative value.

These are the areas where you should look for accommodation on your trip to Miami:

Miami Beach

It is the best known area of the city, famous for its long beach of white sand dotted with colorful wooden houses of the lifeguards (an icon of the city). Its transparent green waters and the promenade full of trendy premises and art deco houses complete a brutal mix that makes almost everyone fall in love. It is the perfect neighborhood for those who want to enjoy the beach and the nightlife of Miami.

Recommended hotels in Miami Beach:

  • Freehand Miami
  • Sixty80 Design Hotel
  • Miami Beach Specialty Lodging

Downton Miami

Downtown Miami is the finance area, located just in front of Buscayne Bay and full of restaurants, bars and businesses. Come on, if you like being in the kernel center You're going to love it! Many of the things to see and do in Miami are here or very close, so logistics is a good option. Although, for us, it lacks a bit of personality.

The part we liked the most was Brickell, is where one of my best friends lived and where we enjoyed the fireworks of July 4. The area has spectacular views and little parks, so it's cool.

Recommended hotels in Downtown Miami:

  • Eurostars Langford
  • Icon Residence
  • Downtonw Miami Specialty Lodging

Coral gables

It is where we stayed during our stay in Miami. The truth is that the Mola neighborhood, it is residential and quiet, with quite nice areas, but, unless you find a chillazo, it seems to us that it is not the best option if you are staying 2-3 days. The reason is simple: it is quite far from the center and the means of transportation in Miami are not the best. On the other hand, if you decide to spend a little time in the city and / or you have rented a car… it's not a bad option at all!

Recommended hotels in Coral Gables:

  • Hotel Ponce de Leon
  • Extended Stay America - Miami - Coral Gables
  • Coral Gables Specialty Lodging

Wynwood and Design District

It's one of the cooler neighborhoods from Miami, loved by locals as well as tourists. It has a hipster touch and is full of murals, offices and art galleries, so it is a very charming neighborhood, it is also very close to the Downtown. This is a great solution to stay in Miami, if you find a good deal.

Of course, it is important that you do not move away from the central area (on Google you will see it marked yellow) because some of the neighborhoods that surround Wynwood can be conflictive, such as Allapatah.

Recommended hotels in Wynwood:

  • Krymwood Flats Wynwood
  • Real Living Hotel Residence
  • Wynwood and Design District Specialty Lodging

They told us that the most dangerous areas of Miami and that it is better to avoid, especially at night, are Liberty City Y Allapatah. Keep that in mind!

Here we leave you a map where we show you the best areas to stay in Miami (and in red the ones you have to avoid), in addition to the location of the hotels we recommend:

We hope we have helped you choose the area to stay in Miami. I hope you find a very good offer to enjoy even more this peculiar city.
