If you have set foot in a Chinese restaurant, you have probably tried the sweet and sour pork (along with lemon chicken or almonds, it is the most popular dish!). We love it for two reasons: its sauce and how crispy it is… mmm delicious. Today we leave you the quick and easy recipe so you can try it at home ... it seems more complicated than it is, but it's really a child's play!

Ingredients (2 people)

  • 400gr. pork loin
  • 1 onion
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 can of pineapple in its juice (do not syrup!)
  • 1/2 green pepper 1/2 zucchini
  • 1/2 red pepper

For the sweet and sour sauce

  • Pineapple can juice (about 100-125 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of ketchup
  • 1 splash of balsamic vinegar from Modena
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in water Salt and sugar (to correct if necessary)

For the batter

  • Flour
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper
  • Frying oil

Elaboration

1. Cut the onion, peppers, carrot, zucchini and pineapple into small pieces of about two cm.

2. We also cut the loin into 2cm squares.

3. Prepare the sauce: mix all the ingredients in a casserole and put them on the fire for about 5 minutes. Then we add the cornstarch dissolved in water.

4. We try the sauce and if it is too sweet we add a pinch of salt, on the contrary if it is too salty we put a pinch of sugar.

5. Saute the vegetables over high heat in a pan or better still in a wok with a few drops of sunflower oil. We leave them for as long as you like (if you want the crispy vegetables about 5 minutes, if you want them more tender about 10). Remember to constantly mix so they don't burn.

6. As soon as the vegetables are ready, add the pineapple and sauté it in the wok for a minute.

7. Add the sauce to the vegetables and pineapple and turn off the heat.

8. Pepper the loin and roll it with flour and egg.

9. Fry them in abundant sunflower oil and once ready we remove the excess fat leaving them on absorbent paper towels.

10. Add the loin to the wok with the vegetables, the pineapple and the sauce, mix and voila! We already have a delicious sweet and sour pork!

We hope you liked our sweet and sour pork recipe 🙂
