Many of you already know (we are very good at giving the can in RRSS hehe) but if you have missed it ... we are going on a trip to Australia! We booked the tickets a couple of weeks ago and we spent a few days going around the itinerary (god, who ate head), wondering if we buy or rent the van (in the end we will rent it) and especially agreeing on what to do (Rober drive yes, but I am very convincing). And finally we have the first sketch of what will be the itinerary of our trip through Australia:

This section of the trip is bouncing here, we found an offer to fly to Perth from Bali and of course, we couldn't resist the temptation. So we were presented with two options: spend a few days in the largest city in Western Australia and then fly to Melbourne, or travel thousands of miles with a van passing through crystalline waters, accompanied by kangaroos and a few epic landscapes ... Of course we decided on the road trip!

The idea is to spend some 4 days (and celebrate my yasss birthday) between Perth, Freemantle and Rottnest Island (the island of quokkas ohhhh) and then start a 3-week road trip to Melbourne.

We will stay a week in Melbourne, which by the way is always at the top of the rankings of the best city to live ... in the world! We'll tell you if it's better than Vera Playa, we have our doubts, huh ?.

And not to go against oceanic traditions, after our 3 experiences of housesitting in New Zealand, in Australia we will also repeat! We have found a little house with a puppy and a cat that need two housesitters majetes Here we are! We will take care of them for a few 3 weeks (We will take the opportunity to catch up with the blog that will then be half abandoned). Where will this be housesitting? In a town on the Mornington Peninsula, about 80km from Melbourne. Do you think so far? Welcome to Australia, where the distances are huge!

Next step: we are going to Tasmania, to know what many call "the New Zealand" of Australia ... and as half as beautiful we will be more than happy. Especially if we get any Tasmanian devil to bite us 🙂

This is the least planned part we have (haha, as if the others were already very clear), but the idea is tour the east coast and visit impressive places like the Blue Mountains, Bayron Bay, Magnetic Island and go up to the Barrier Reef and Cairns. All this in approximately others 3 weeks. We will finish the trip in Sydney where will we stay 5 days before ... ahhhh, this is another story!

So you have an idea of how immense everything is, it's going to be a trip of about 10,000 km. And why would someone in their right mind do so many kilometers? Because if we close our eyes and remember our best trips, they have always been the ones that contemplated 4 wheels and roads, because This is how we learned to enjoy, not only the great attractions of each place, but all the moments we lived before arriving at the destination.

How long are we going to be? Some 3 months! We are aware that NOT everyone can spend 3 months on the other side of the world, so we promise that, on the way back and after having kicked more than half a country, we will tell you what the essential stops are and we will give you a few ideas to A trip of 3-4 weeks.

The bad: we are going to leave out something very important and that many have advised us ... Australian outback. Peeeeero, is that they are MANY Km ... Australia is a giant country-continent and on a first trip we don't want to go too fast. So we have made a deal: The next time we spend another season in Chiang Mai, we will take advantage of the “closeness” with the Down Under land to return and visit everything that remains pending:

  • Road trip from Perth to Darwin
  • Another from Darwin to Adelaide or Melbourne, through the Red Center.

Yes, we have not yet set foot in Australia and we are already thinking of returning, we are vicious!
